Remember getting together with friends?  Seeing smiles?  Hugging one another?   Remembering" provides the opportunity to share memories that will help artists and viewers to focus on the positive.

“Silently and Light of Foot”
Such are the ways of things with dance and light.
A leap of faith, weightlessly, light on ones feet . . . into the unknown.

“Silently and Light of Foot is a sculptural piece created from used but beloved pointe shoes from the Island Moving Company ballet dancers of Newport, RI and a pre-civil war era shoe rack from one of Natick’s oldest mills. The marriage of the two beautiful objects reflect a subtle story of ‘light of foot’ and reminder that we once weren’t and then, were and at some point, won’t be.

Something happens at around 92 miles an hour. Thunder headers drown out all sound. Engine vibration travels at a heart's rate. Field of vision funnels into the immediate. And suddenly you are not on the road - you're in it, a part of it. Traffic, scenery, cops - just cardboard cutouts blown over as you pass. Sometimes I forget the rush of that, that's why I love these long runs. All your problems, all the noise, gone. Nuthin else to worry about, except what's right in front of you.

.It was a cold sunny day at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI when I photographed the talented cellist Morgan Santos. There was undefined magic in the elegant light and the project just evolved.
I don’t photograph things; I photograph only the difference between things, often with several layers of meaning. The veil in “The Cellist” series offers an illusion of a barrier/threshold and movement of wind energy, musical expression and the beginnings and ends of shadow, light and darkness.

​When a comfort level is reached in terms of style, how can you break out of it?
For me, it was finding other influences in places where I haven’t looked before including working with a new medium at high temperatures.


The resulting effort has proved beneficial by learning that “Vertebrae” was juried into the exhibition “2020” in the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery at Worcester State University, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Gutting a grand piano and baking the white keys at 475 degrees for 20 minutes to combine them with a single ebony key was a journey into what it may feel like to be black in white spaces.
