We two alone. . .

Exploring abandoned farmhouses in County Clare, Ireland was an obsession of mine. Often risky, often rewarding, with poignant reminders of how brief our time is here in this world. The residual artful moments that presented themselves like these two hangers shared something bigger than all of us.

“Reflective”

How does a part of the world leave the world?
How can wetness leave water?

Spanning a creek that eventually leads to the Mississippi River stands a civil war-era bridge which is not far from where I was born in rural Missouri. Exploring under the bridge gave a view to a reflective duality coexisting among the ripples.

Perhaps people aren't all good, and people aren't all bad. We move in and out of darkness and light all of our lives.

"Reflective" Limited Edition 2/10 SOLD yesterday to a wonderful collector and friend. I am warmed knowing that it will be in a special place.

The Process . . .

What is the process? After countless art shows, exhibitions and events, I have realized that I don't play music, take photographs or create art to get something. I am there to do a job. Simple as that. I was there to give a performance. If I attached to the outcome, I was setting myself up to expect, and thus fail.

My job was to focus, to be interesting, to take some chances and serve the process.

This wasn't some subtle form of gamesmanship or sleight of hand. There was no predicting or manipulating, no thinking of the outcome. Outcome was irrelevant. I couldn't afford any longer to approach my work as a means to an end.

Once I made the switch, I was no longer a supplicant. I had power in any room I walked into. Which meant I could relax.

I was free.

“Tumbleweed Connection”

Is the human condition like the tumbleweed, this tossing, fringed, homeless host?
Free and wild, or are we in the constant pursuit of a rooted grasp, a deep-rooted connection?

Exploring the abandoned ghost town of Piedmont, Wyoming offered a journey backwards and forward in time, an illusion of the highest order.

"Tumbleweed" will be among numerous other works at tomorrows opening at the @providencegraduatehotel Capital Ballroom, 7-9 pm with live music, cash bar, apps and some interesting surprises. OH and it's a Kentucky Derby-themed event, free and open to all!.
