“So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
~J.R.R. Tolkien

I visited Blarney Castle at twilight on an unusually fair Irish day. The County Cork castle is imposing and chocked full of history dating back to the 10th century. I was compelled to kiss the Blarney Stone. According to Irish folklore, anyone who kisses the stone receives the ability to speak with eloquence, or “The Gift of the Gab.” I would like to think that ability has escaped me.
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”
~W.D. Snodgrass (From the "This Was Once a Love Poem" Series Looking back on a guided tour of a family farm one rainy Irish morning, following the Leahy boy’s footsteps who reverently follow the generations before them.
“Flight”
Memory influences how stories change and evolve over time not due to factual changes but rather by the storyteller’s orientation. Perspectives grow, expand and contract with experience. The human form, quite often the eternal feminine, is the storyteller, a metaphor, an embodied paradox. Composed of images of past and present, she inhabits the worlds of flight and dance. This time traveler unites the threads of time, leasing us home, bringing us back into ourselves. "Flight" 16x20" metal print Currently on exhibition at Gallery X, New Bedford, Massachusetts through March 31, 2019. “I exist as I am, that is enough,
If no other in the world be aware I sit content, And if each and all be aware I sit content. One world is aware, and by the far the largest to me, and that is myself, And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years, I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness, I can wait.” ~Walt Whitman "Some girls are full of heartache and poetry and those are the kind of girls who try to save wolves instead of running away from them."
~Nikita Gill “We are so lightly here. It is in love that we are made; in love we disappear.”
~Leonard Cohen - Book of Longing. I need to support artists. If I fail to support artists with words, exhibit visits, gigs and an occasional purchase... I have failed Art. Period. At that point I can't complain when the majority of the population rushes for a mass produced poster, tune, etc. instead of an original work of art. A good chunk of who I am is invested in it. I accomplish little if I keep my need for art private.
I need art in my life.
