“The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected.”
~Robert Frost “The Preparation” 20x24" (click on photograph to purchase) What is the process of creating? We decontextualize. Then, we reconstruct. Looking past the obvious, close observation and engagement of the subject is my process. The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous to capture Unique Self. "The Preparation” is a discovery of beauty in unusual places and in this case, it is vintage 1910 French nudes interacting with antique Belgium lace.

I’m very excited that “Tully” limited edition has been accepted into the
Blanche Ames National Juried Exhibition at the Ames Mansion, Borderland Park, Easton, Ma August - October, 2019 Opening reception:Tba “Tully” 19 x 22" (Click on photograph to purchase) What is the illusionary light that we bear witness to in our domestic settings? Perhaps it is the quiet dignity of our possessions inclining with reverence and respect. This photograph was taken in the vanishing light at Tully, County Clare, Ireland. This red parasol was a special gift to musician/visual artist Jan Schmidt from her late father.
“My dad was not a shopper but had a purposeful intent on seeking out the perfect umbrella for me as a gift while I was studying Creative Writing and Theater Arts in college. Without fail, whenever I take this vintage umbrella to the streets, I am stopped and told how wonderful it is! I love seeing how it has taken a new life of its own with the creativity of the photographers of Creating Your Vision photography workshop hosted by David Lee Black!" Photograph by Joni Lohr. Painting by Wilhelm Neusser: Bog/Promise 1925, at Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, Boston “When it's over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms. When it is over, I don't want to wonder if I have made of my life something particular, and real. I don't want to find myself sighing and frightened, or full of argument. I don't want to end up simply having visited this world.” ~Mary Oliver I received a beautiful email this morning from collectors from Washington DC with a photograph of their purchase of my photograph "Consciousness" which was delivered from Bowersock Fine Art Gallery in Provincetown ("Modern Man" exhibition). The work was delivered in tip-top shape and is now on display in their home. EVERYTHING works with the placement of the art along with the gorgeous and thoughtful interior design. So many ripples of positive energy come from purchasing original work from artists who are really working hard in their craft.
Infinite gratitude to this wonderful collector who made my day! “When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”
~Rumi "Little Girl along the Missouri" 19x22" ![]() “In today’s rush, we all think too much...seek too much ...want too much...and forget about the joy of just being.” ~Eckhart Tolle I recently rode my motorcycle back to Mount Pollusk, Amherst, MA to visit Two Trees. It has been a couple of years since the One has fallen and the hike up to the sacred ground where they once both stood is never the same feeling. It still has all the feels but like life, has changed into something else. I am quite content with the changes and smile looking back . . . |
