It looks like I have come to the attention of the authorities in this sculptural exhibit of art made from found and repurposed materials with “Vertebrae”, made from gutting a grand piano and baking the white keys at 475 degrees for 20 minutes to combine them with a single ebony key on the poster! Proud to exhibit in this spectacular gallery, alongside amazingly talented sculptors from the Northeast.

Often lonely and sometimes frightened, but no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. Creating Your Vision Photography Workshop
David Lee Black Studios The Aloft Providence Hotel 191 Dorrance Street Providence, Rhode Island Nov 20, 2022, 11-1 pm Meet and greet at 10:30 am Cost: $50 Details: This uniquely experiential event is in an ongoing series of wonderful workshops. Together we are growing a community of supportive and talented artists of all skill levels who connect through photography and a love of art. Creating Your Vision involves unique models interacting with the art of a unique space, often world-class art galleries. For this event, we are thrilled to be returning to the Aloft Providence Hotel! This innovative, untraditional atmosphere, perfectly placed within the Providence Innovation and Design District along the Providence River has gorgeous light and a funky stylish interior and courtyard. We will begin at Aloft and then walk across the street to the Providence Pedestrian Bridge with commanding views of downtown Providence and beyond! For this workshop, we are excited to have professional models Micaiah Castro, Cheri White, Destiny Manston and other special guests sporting their exquisite sexy edgy-cool and elegant attire with a PINK theme to celebrate Aloft's 1 year anniversary! Is there a color out there that’s more fun and festive than pink? It may traditionally symbolize femininity, but there’s certainly more to it than that, and people of any gender can enjoy this happy color. The color pink is also associated with love and romance, joy, and creativity, and it is considered to have a calming effect on those who see it. So what better backdrop for a photoshoot than pink at the Aloft Downtown Providence hotel with three professional models and YOU and your creativity! Participants will be instructed on composition, lighting, technical details and creating their own vision in a storytelling way. This event is open to all regardless of ability or camera gear. Even a camera phone is fine. Free instructional handouts and refreshments are provided. There will also be plenty of helpful guidance and suggestions to enhance your passion for artful photography. Feel free to invite your friends, and family or share this invite! “I sat in front of this work of art right after losing my father, grandmother and then my mother. Not to mention sitting in that chair right after my brain surgery trying to wrap my mind around what happened over the past couple of years. The Empty Irish home, one chair and violin spoke to me. Our Irish home would now be one chair short for some of us. The music would stop and never be the same. But in that loneliness and heartache I saw beauty. A reminder to everyone who may be left alone or have that empty chair at Thanksgiving that there is beauty in the pain. This will now hang in my home this Thanksgiving as a reminder of that Irish home we hold near and dear despite that empty chair.” . . . “A Note Unsaid” “Life is for the living. Death is for the dead. Let life be like music. And death a note unsaid.” ~Langston Hughes I have sat in this living room on countless occasions playing music, laughing, conversing, crying, eating, working but mostly quietly thinking about how fortunate I am to be sitting in an Irish farmhouse like this in beloved County Clare. I’m honored that one of my first landscape photographs, “Two Trees” has been accepted into “The Landscape Exhibition” by juror, John Paul Caponigro.
