All day in the one chair From dream to dream and rhyme to rhyme I have ranged In rambling talk with an image of air: Vague memories, nothing but memories.” ~Yeats From the Asylum series, a photographic journey into an abandoned Massachusetts insane asylum built in 1854. The Hawthorne Hotel of Salem, Massachusetts is often ranked as one of the most haunted hotels in America. Guests have reported moving furniture, sightings of a ghostly woman, and unexplained noises. I took this photograph as the hotel elevator doors opened and revealed this small girl dressed in festive attire. (Her father was just out of camera pushing the elevator button.) The girl seemed to emanate the chronicled spectral history of the hotel and is currently on exhibition at the Heartspot Gallery in Providence, RI.
