Description:
Creating Your Vision Photography Workshop David Lee Black Studios Cambridge Art Association 25 Lowell Street Cambridge, Massachusetts Date: Saturday, December 7, 11-1pm Meet and greet: 10:30am Details: This uniquely experiential event is 52nd in a series of wonderful workshops. Together we are growing a community of supportive and talented artists of all skill levels who connect through photography and a love of art. Creating Your Vision photography workshops involves unique models interacting with the art of a unique space, often world-class art galleries. For this December 7th event, we are thrilled to be returning to the world class gallery space of the Cambridge Art Association near Harvard Square where professional ballet dancer Katie Moorehead will be interacting with the national juried exhibit, “BLUE”. “Blue light is a range of the visible light spectrum that we increasingly encounter due to the pervasiveness of computers, televisions, and LED lights. Emitting from our screens, blue light is criticized for disrupting our sleep cycles or damaging our eyesight. There is no doubt that blue light is all around us, brightening our indoor spaces and shaping our vision. Blue, in its wavelength form, is arguably the defining and disarming color of contemporary life and culture. In the realm of art and literature, blue is more often associated with memory and melancholy, used to articulate atmospheres of interiority. Electric and subdued, a palette for technological advancement and nostalgia, blue moves us forward in time while it is also the color of a distant past. The artworks chosen for this exhibition exhibit the wide range of possibilities that blue offers. From sculpture to cyanotypes, paintings to textiles, the work (and the presence of blue in each piece) pings a response from our unconscious. Across this exhibition, the color blue soothes while it also provokes.” https://www.cambridgeart.org/blue-2019/ Participants will be instructed on composition, lighting, technical details and creating your own vision in a storytelling way. This event is open to all regardless of ability or camera gear. Even a camera phone is fine. Free instructional handouts and refreshments provided. There will also be plenty of helpful guidance and suggestions to enhance your passion for artful photography. Feel free to invite your friends, family or share this invite! What to bring: Camera Your creativity and open mind Cost: $50 (cash or check) There is limited free parking at the Cambridge Art Association and also a parking garage at the hospital across the street. “We sit silently and watch the world around us. This has taken a lifetime to learn. It seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. The young, brash and impatient, must always break the silence. It is a waste, for silence is pure. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking...”
Nicholas Sparks - The Notebook “That she had so completely recovered her sanity was a source of sadness to her. One should never be cured of one's passion.”
~Marguerite Duras - The Ravishing of Lol Stein Friends for decades, these guys and a few more not in attendance because of other cool stuff, make up a connection of special humans that are fondly known as the Schmucks. Teachers, musicians, businessmen and artists, the Schmucks get together ever so often in cool locations and play music too loud, eat and drink too much and belly laugh often. Through the years of life events, we are lucky and blessed to have each other.
