I am honored that “Excess” (20 x 29.5” le 3/5) has been juried into the Duxbury Art Complex Museum Winter Exhibition! Upon moving to the east coast, I was fascinated by the rich history of Duxbury and New England. Years later, I look back and can’t help but smile as I realize I have become part of it. . . . . “Founded in 1917, the Duxbury Art Association is one of the oldest arts organizations in the country. Our mission to help local art and artisans thrive was set forth by our founders, great artists Charles Bittinger, John Singer Sargent, and Frank Benson.” . . “Excess . . .” What is overstimulation? How does it affect our lives? Our saturated bodies and brains are being fed more information than they can actively process and it is hurting us. Exploring the dripping excesses in our busy lives such as screen time, religious and political issues, relationships and possessions often mean for many people, a good life is about more. Perhaps a good life is about less . . .
